It wasn’t much like a holiday in our house, other than it being nice for Bill to have the day off of work. He had a big list of projects to do, so it didn’t seem different to me and the boys. We did a ton of laundry and tried to clean up the clutter that accumulates.

Bill took Trevor to run some errands after Trevor skipped his nap. They went to the insanely busy mall, hit Sears for tools and the Lego store for fun. Trevor was worn out so I thought he would go to bed easily tonight.

Brendan had a couple of big tantrums and ended up pulling his trach out twice. We try to not make a huge deal about it, otherwise it encourages him to do it again. The first time today, I decided to take his picture.
At first he was concerned.

Then he gets curious.

Then he realizes that he can cover the hole in his neck with his finger and talk.

We try to keep things fun for everyone, somedays we have big laughs but can’t wait for the day to be over.

They’re heeeeeere….. monsoon season has begun, and the haboobs are ready to roll.

Maybe that is what causes this behavior:

After dinner, the cell phones sounded the weather alert so the boys had to go outside and see what the noise was about.

As soon as the wind started to pick up and the dust got closer, we moved indoors.

Trevor is fascinated by dust storms, he always likes the ones in Wall-E. We are getting some rain too, but mostly it was wind and dust.

(Brendan’s outburst at the end was because he was startled by a loud noise when Bill messed with the chimney to make sure it was closed up!)

This was exactly the kind of day we were hoping to prevent. Trevor slept until 8:30am again, and that was only because I woke him up. I worried about him napping, so after Brendan had therapy, we tried to go to Bookman’s for an outing.
Brendan ran all over the maze of aisles and wore himself out. They both were fascinated by the music section. They played with Guitar Hero stuff and some real guitars, bongos, and drums. Trevor really REALLY like the real drum set.

The outing was not quite enough and Trevor skipped his nap. It was enough to make him overtired, so he was just beside himself tonight. The only peace came with dinner and some lego time.

We interviewed another nurse tonight but it just wasn’t a good fit. We have coverage all next week and then it is up in the air again for a while.
