Year 3 – Week 42 – Day 1

I am very proud of the two little boys who rode so perfectly in the car for such a long day. They played LOTS of iPad and really enjoyed the new apps I loaded.
They were up at 5:30am to get loaded in the car, we were driving down the road before 6:30am, they did not nap at all!
When we got in to Tucumcari, NM it was late and they were tired and Trevor was hungry so it was a bit of a rush this evening. We lost an hour to time change too.

I only have a couple of photos from stops along the way.

I circled the dot that is Bill chasing the dot that is Brendan as he tries to run away at his top speed.

Trevor just wanted to dig dirt and rocks

This storm full of lightning and heavy rain went alongside us but not over us as we did the last 100 miles.

We probably were lucky today, the novelty of the trip kept the boys happy, I didn’t even need to dig in to the goody bag of stuff much. Tomorrow I think will be more challenging because they will be tired of driving! Over 600 miles to do tomorrow!

Happy happy happy birthday to Bill today! The boys had better be good to him again tomorrow!

Year 3 – Week 41 – Day 7

In a matter of hours, we will be on the road! EEK!

We owe a huge thanks to Jonah, Christine, and Johnathon for bringing over pizza and helping with the last minute preparations. Christine got an unexpected shower when she offered to give Trevor a bath – and then he ended up having two baths because the first one wasn’t silly enough.

Thanks Mary Alyn for coming in super early to manage Li’l B for the evening!

Brendan approved of dinner, he licked the sauce off of two pieces of pizza!!

Trevor already discovered that I loaded some new apps for the road trip. He doesn’t miss much.

He also had an epic fit when he found the goody bags I was putting together for the road and then I wouldn’t let him open the stuff. You just can’t explain that it will all be his in time.

Here’s an assault of Brendan cuteness with some of his new sounds:

We hope to be able to update along the way, but I have no idea what internet access will be available.

Year 3 – Week 41 – Day 6

Just one more day filled with furious packing remains before departure!

Today was terrible and I am glad it is over. Not only did we have a brand new services coordinator, we had a brand new district nurse. These meetings every 90 days determine our nursing and our therapies. So, to a house they have never been to before, they decide to bring yet another new coordinator in training and have her do all of the paperwork.
After not showing up on time, taking 2hrs to do a meeting that should have taken 45 minutes, and giving me the patronizing, “we know how you feel” line of crap, they cut 8hrs a week away from our nursing hours with a, “please call if you need anything” dismissal.

It gives me such a headache to have these meetings. It is humiliating. I don’t feel like I am entitled to receive services, I am lucky to have them. I just feel desperate for the help and know that it will all be gone sooner that we will be ready.

Brendan had a final checkup with his pulmonologist today and got the “all clear” for travel. On the way to the hospital, Trevor slept for 5 minutes in the car. On the way home, Brendan slept for 5 minutes in the car. That was naps for today!

One wiped out boy!

5:30PM, Trevor hit a wall right before the last bite of PB&J.

UGH. It was too early to put him to bed, too late to allow a nap. I got him up and gave him a long bubble bath and tried to put him to bed early. He still put up an hour long fight to go to bed, but was asleep by 8:20pm.

The stress of the day is still sitting like a lump in my throat and a pit in my stomach. I am really looking forward to vacation and seeing all of our family. The only thing more relaxing than 2 crazy kids is 7 crazy kids!
