Week 3 – Day 7 – BIG DAY!!!!!!!!

We made it to Brendan’s hospital in time this morning to hear the doctors’ rounds. The team decided that he was not going to be getting surgery today, but it will definitely be tomorrow or Wednesday. They are planning on it for tomorrow, but they will reassess him in the morning and make sure that he is ready for it.
We got a call around 10PM last night to let us know that Brendan pulled his ventilator tube out. Even though he did alright without it, with surgery coming up, they really had to put it back in for him. He is a really strong baby!

He is looking pretty good today with his new vent.

Trevor’s nurses made this page to send to Brendan so it is now hanging in his room.

Because there was no surgery today, something else very important happened!!!

We actually have a baby in the house!!! We are so excited for him and so far he is doing great. He is going to stay with Gramma tomorrow while Bill and I go back to the hospital to be with Brendan and hopefully see him through surgery. Of course she will be miserable I am sure!!

This was Trevor getting his car seat test. He just disappears in to that car seat!

Trevor is a super smily baby!

He fell asleep during the long test

Bill gets the honors of carrying the baby out

Trevor says “Yay!! I am going home!!”

He is all loaded in the car

Baby in the house!!!

Week 3 – Day 6 – Part 2

I am really late getting these pictures up from last night. Since the nurses wanted to do Trevor’s car seat test, Mom and I made a second trip to the hospital to take the seat in. We got there in time for his 9PM feeding time.

The nurse earlier in the day offered me the little raisin nub from the umbilical cord that had fallen off. I find that a little disturbing to keep dried up skin so I threw it away. The nurse at night told us that it had fallen off on her shift the night before and it had gone in to his poopy diaper. She had fished it out and washed it so that we could keep it. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that her efforts were all wasted!

Since that nub was off, the nurse did offer to help us give Trevor a bubble bath. I did not realize that this meant that she was going to give him the bath and not even let me in to even get a good look at him. I had to be pretty pushy to just get pictures. She had her “magic method” to keep the baby from crying in the tub. She would get all up in his face and sing “diddle diddle diddle” right in his ear. It creeped me out. A lot.

But he actually did really well in the bath, I just think he is nice a mellow and don’t give a lot of credit to her “method”.

Pictures!!

The air system on the wall is great for making bubble baths

Soaking off the leads. Sadly, he had to get new ones put on again for the carseat test.

There are no strings on me!! True naked baby for the first time since he was born (although there is a piece of tape on his knee)

Trevor is a smiley baby, even if it isn’t real smiles yet. This is a great picture!
