Week 32 – Day 7

I am too tired to type much, Trevor was up several times during the night and both boys were a handful all day!

Trevor is all full of attitude! He has a ton of energy and needs a constant outlet. We ordered him an activity center today, hopefully it arrives soon!! I also hope that when his teeth come in that he will settle down.

He does still like his oatmeal and a side dish twice a day

Brendan’s breakfast is a little different than oatmeal. This is what he gets at 9am, in addition to an inhaler treatment.

Brendan took some time after his trach change to get settled back down to being comfortable. It irritates his airway, so he needed more suctioning than normal. He also may be experiencing a bit of effect from withdrawal. He was not himself last night and most of the morning, but he got it together for the rest of the day. By the time he was ready for his sprint, he was feeling pretty good.

It is good to see when he gets his legs in motion

Hopefully everyone gets some much needed rest and Gramma doesn’t melt in her apartment, it is still hot out there tonight!

Week 32 – Day 6

There were far too many cute pictures today. We did so many things, it was hard to pick out the best ones.

Trevor had some cute Daddy time

Brendan had some more floor time playing on his tummy, sitting up, spending time with Trevor.

I love pictures of them together. Brendan usually smiles big at Trevor and Trevor looks at Gramma like he is asking, “When does this baby stop visiting?”

Brendan’s head control improves every day

Brendan did an hour and twenty minutes off of the vent today. He was in a great mood too but needed a lot of extra suctioning. Bill went and bought another suction machine for him today and ran it so that the loud compressor part was in the bathroom and that there was a switch by the bed to turn it on and off. Now when his trach needs to be suctioned, we don’t have to startle him with a 70db compressor going on and off.

While Brendan slept and recovered from his sprint, Gramma and I took Trevor down the street to Bailey’s house to swim. The pool was a little cooler this time, he wasn’t as excited as the last swimming time!

He did finally get in to it and swam around

Trevor loves dogs. Maggie-Moo came to say hello!

Drying off in a monkey towel

Back in his hat and ready to go home. He got a second bath to get all the chlorine off of him, then dinner and to bed. He was pretty worn out!

Once Trevor was down, we all had to do the rest of the Brendan tasks for the day. He got his bubble bath and massage first but then he needed a trach change. This is a process that happens once a week that takes a lot of prep and planning and very careful action. It went very smoothly tonight and Brendan settled very quickly once I picked him up. He is sound asleep now and his night nurse should be here any time.

Week 32 – Day 5

Brendan had a great day today. We had no nurse so it was just loving care from Mom, Dad and Gramma and I think it makes such a huge difference. He has done a lot of sleeping and a lot of smiling.
Trevor had a lot of fun times today too, but he is still a little pistol in the evenings. He demands a lot of attention and cries a lot, although I still think teething is his biggest problem, followed by a little remaining gassiness. Once those teeth aren’t hurting, he should be back to super happy Trevor again.

The stronger Brendan gets, the more trouble we are going to be in!

Lions are good at keeping hands away from tubes

Brendan is going to get lots of handling, sitting, kicking practice, and tummy time every day. It is hard for him, but I think he likes the challenge.

The photo is blurry, but I was so impressed with how well he was able to pop his own head up, I had to use it anyway! He is stronger than I thought!

Trevor gets lots of play time with Gramma. He is very spoiled!

He wants to play, but he keeps his chin tucked down. It must make his teeth feel better.

Gramma is getting a good workout bouncing Trevor! He likes it so much, he can’t sit on her lap without insisting on being bounced.

Poor Trevor!!

Silly Trevor video with his new “gasping” sound and yells

Trevor learned how to drink from a straw! We just thought he might chew on it. But he got a mouth full of Gramma’s ice water. He was a bit surprised at first. The cold makes him open his mouth and let it all run out! Now that he knows what a cup is for, he begs for it when he sees it!
