Week 33 – Day 6

It was a pretty rough night. Brendan slept fitfully and woke often. He startles very easily and cries, it is just so sad to see him not feeling well after such a nice long streak of being a rock star. He is doing a little better today, he did come around and give out a few smiles this afternoon.
We added a little Ibuprofen to his schedule, it seemed to help him feel much better this afternoon. It probably helps his little teeth buds too.

Trevor sat with him this morning and tried to give him a pep talk

Trevor still had a silly day. We’ve added a lunch to his schedule of solids, and he has done very well with it. I think it is helping his little gut too, he gets lots of prunes, peaches, pears and oatmeal.

While Trevor spazzed out in the jungle, Brendan found comfort in the swing. He rocked for several hours and slept.

Brendan is sleeping much better so far tonight, hopefully he will be back to his smiley self in the morning

Trevor was up a little past his bedtime. He just loves the dogs and was just so excited about them paying attention to him tonight. Eins really likes him.

Quinn is not so sure!

Quinn figures that he moves faster than Trevor for now

Trevor is in bed now too, hopefully down for the night!

Week 33 – Day 5

Brendan had a good morning. He needed suctioning a lot, but seemed to be in a good mood.

He played with toys

He tried to talk to Gramma

Since he is the big brother, he has to try to do everything first. If you rub his little gums, you can feel the little teeth under the surface. Nothing has come through yet but they are right there!

Trevor was mostly good today too! He is silly and loud.

You put your right leg in…

And you shake it all about..

That’s what it’s all about!

Silliness

To end the night, Gramma helped to give Brendan his sponge bath. He really enjoys getting fresh and clean.

For some reason after his bath, he got very agitated and would get upset very easily. He cried pretty hard and got his heart racing. Gramma has been holding him for 45 minutes trying to keep him calm and comfortable. Hopefully he will sleep like he normally does at night. We do not have a nurse tonight, so Bill and I are splitting the night. I’ll be up until 2:30am. Bill went to bed early and will get up at 2:30 to let me sleep.

We hope Brendan feels better in the morning. This could be more medication withdrawal he is going through.

Week 33 – Day 4

Happy Friday! Saturday to most who read the blog in the morning. Monday to the big crowd that falls off over the weekend!

Today was about playing

Brendan’s color was better today, as was his mood.

Trevor’s silly level is on the rise, he is feeling a bit more like himself.

Brendan isn’t sure what to do with the chameleon

Oh he lights up and sings!

Honey, I shrunk C3PO. Where could he be?

He’s lounging on the O2D2

We work with Brendan every day on his oral skills. After his Glenn surgery, the cpap mask and the enormous vent pressures he was on made him lose his desire to use his pacifier. Not eating by mouth all this time has suppressed his feeding instinct. It is a huge thing just to see him still willing to bite on his paci. Speech Therapy will start soon to help him not lose the ability to eat.

Brendan finds his mirror baby

Gramma bought the boys each a cute little patio chair!

Bye Bye

Overall, it has been a good day!
