Week 51 – Day 5

It is an “up all night” night again. Since we have not yet found a nurse that can cover Saturday nights, we had our usual Mon-Tues day nurse, Jenn, here today to use up the hours we have available. It is really nice to have Brendan cared for so that we can do errands, housework, and other little projects we are trying to finish. Bill can go visit his dad without worrying about the chaos at home. Jenn makes Brendan work hard so he is sound asleep now!

It was a busy day and I have tons of pics and videos! First, a video from yesterday that I forgot! Trevor loves the suction machine as much as Brendan does. This video starts with Trevor’s hilarious hands on hips pose. Then what makes me laugh is Brendan in the background so amused at watching Trevor!

Trevor knew he had a lot to do, so he started the day with a tall mug of coffee

The boys liked sharing a bath so much yesterday that we did the same thing today. They had a ton of bubbles this time and soaked for a long time!

There were feet everywhere and they played with all of them. It is easy to tell them apart. Carrot-soaked orange Trevor toes vs dusky blue Brendan feet.

Trevor’s obvious excitement in this picture is because it was Walmart day. It was his first real ride in his big boy carseat. Little did he know that Walmart today would be better than an amusement park. So much Halloween stuff to see!

We marveled at the teeny preemie Halloween outfits. Last Halloween, Trevor would have been swimming in this little outfit. Now it looks impossibly small!

Trevor was mesmerized by this spinning-eye inflatable. We had to pass by several times.

Trevor’s sheer amazement at this dancing and singing monster just makes me giggle. He wanted to dance to the song, but he could not overcome his awe! If it wasn’t so stupid expensive, I would have bought it. Instead, we had to play this video about 40 times for him tonight.

When we got home, we had a couple of visitors. Some of the boys’ most loyal blog readers were in town from Colorado and had to come squeeze them in person. Thanks very much Mike, Donna, and Denise for the birthday gift and the incentive for the big people to get out!

After all that chaos, Trevor is ready to kick back and watch some Yo Gabba Gabba! He actually fell asleep in his lunch again, he was so worn out from the morning excitement and skipping his nap.

To top off the busy day, the boys video chatted with their favorite girl cousins. Ashley was kind enough to sing several rounds of Purple People Eater and Kayla did the llama routine and made silly faces. It was good to see you girls!

Finally, Trevor has a little acting to share. He doesn’t deserve the Oscar like his brother, but his little “I am hungry and I am out of avocado” fit is pretty funny.
Listen carefully at the end, Gramma!

Week 51 – Day 4

Bill had to go to the office this morning, so when the night nurse left at 7am, the boys were all mine. Since Trevor slept until 7, that means he had to share his routine with his brother! They sat in high chairs together for breakfast and all that was fine. But I can’t be in the other room bathing Trevor while Brendan is awake, so I had to include Brendan in the bath time fun! Both boys seemed to like it.

Later this morning, they had gross diapers at the exact same time. Getting them both changed was fun.

And then the slapping started…

The new car seat #1 arrived today! We ordered just one to make sure it would fit and work out before we bought a second one, just in case we had to return it. Trevor was awe struck by its coolness.

Although really it was the box that was cool!

Brendan just sat off to himself and played. He loves using the bouncy chair like a little play desk for his toys.

The seat BARELY fits rear facing in the back seat of the truck. And we have come to realize that no adult is going to fit between the two boys now when they are in full size seats.

Trevor never did get dressed today. He wasn’t going anywhere, just test fitting.

We are going to have to figure out a new plan for family travel. If Brendan requires someone in the back seat with him, Trevor will just not be able to go. We’ll have to just have someone sit up front and pull over if the situation requires it. I never thought an SUV and a truck would be too small for a family of four!

Week 51 – Day 3

Some days feel so much longer than others. Today was one of those days that was just a bit frustrating and long for no real good reason.

It was a nicely overcast 72 degrees this morning, so the first thing we did was take a nice long walk along the sandy shores of the beach!!
By saying beach, I mean the city canal and sandy shores are just dirt embankments. It was still a nice long walk!

We had to stop a lot for suctioning and when the sun came out, it was pretty darn hot. I think the boys still had a nice time getting out of the house and it gave Bill a little peace at home too so he could work without chaos.

The boys are doing more things together now as Brendan gets stronger. Trevor invaded Brendan’s crib for playtime.

Brendan is giving me the look of “I am not falling for the cheerio thing again”

Toys are much better

Trevor says, “Why is my tray empty!?”
He actually ate an epic number of peas for dinner with flank steak. He is a hungry boy!

Here’s a few video shorts of the boys today. Trevor has a new spotter for his climbing adventures, even though he can be mean to his brother.

Brendan is just not himself this week. He is happy less during the day and struggles more with his sprints, needing a lot of suctioning. I am sure it is the drug weaning plus teething. He starts with a new speech therapist tomorrow, it ought to be interesting!
