Week 51 – Day 2

What is today, Wednesday? I lose track! Brendan was feeling a little off today while sprinting, he just was gagging and retching and coughing a lot so we put him back on his vent. Trying a few times yielded the same results. I think he has a big tooth coming in somewhere that is causing him a lot of oral secretions that are giving him a problem. He deserved a day of rest, all together he was off vent for about 4hrs.

Trevor has declared this side table for the land of Trevor and all that is placed on it belongs to Trevor. (Even Daddy’s big mug of coffee)

Brendan showing off his sitting

He is even strong enough to shake things up!

He still will fall backwards easily. But he has too much trust that someone is going to catch him. Sadly, I missed him once today and he got his first fall over head bonk. Boy was he mad! I felt horrible, but truly, he maybe needed a bonk to know that he has to keep trying to not fall over!

Trevor came over to play, much to Brendan’s delight

He shows Brendan how to turn toys over and look for the screws to take it apart

Feeling guilty, I set up Brendan’s safety throne for sitting to play!

I was focused on Brendan and almost missed the Trevor camera attack!

Brendan had plenty of silly play time today. He is slapping things like crazy now. His slapping hand just occasionally turns against him!

Week 51 – Day 1

It was a good day at home today. Brendan was a little cranky through the night, but he still played hard, worked hard and was off vent for 11 hours!
Trevor was a bottomless pit today, he was so hungry! He ate peaches, oatmeal, waffles, peas, raspberries, puffs, cheerios, baked cod, vegetable rotini with fresh tomato, and broccoli and kept on asking for more. He eats better than his parents. Brendan just got extra formula.

Trevor just kept snacking, straight from the box!

Brendan got in lots of tummy time!

Brendan’s sitting is awesome, he just needs to work on the tipping over backwards part now.

The boys are in bed and Bill and I might actually get to watch a whole movie without interruption (yeah, I know, good luck!)

Since I have had lots of requests for gift ideas for the rapidly approaching first birthday, I am sharing this here. We are by no means soliciting for gifts!!

The boys need winter clothes (not too warm, it is AZ) in size 18mo, layered outfits work well. They need shoes and socks for infant size 5. They always can use diapers – pampers swaddlers size 3.

I have set a handful of toys and things that would be good on an amazon wish list:

Most of all, we are in need of upgrading their car seats! Amazon gift cards are ideal if you would like to contribute to this cause.

Hand me downs of every kind are also much appreciated. The best thing you could give of course is a birthday message here on the blog for them both on their big day.

Week 50 – Day 7

We wrap up this week with a visit to Brendan’s cardiologist. He was due for his routine echocardiogram and EKG.
We schedule his appointments carefully when we can so that it falls during a normal down time for him and then we give him a little Benadryl to help him relax for all of the stuff he has to endure. It worked flawlessly today, he slept soundly through his entire appointment and they were able to get good clear pictures.

He looked so cute sleeping in a big bed with his HME on. We were so thrilled he was able to sleep through all of the pushing and prodding.

We were in the “Angry Birds” themed room today for echo

He got his EKG done while he slept in his stroller, it was so easy!

Benadryl is good stuff, Brendan woke up a little groggy!

The most awesome thing that we could have had happen today did happen, we got an A+ report card from Brendan’s cardiologist. His heart is strong and working well. No leaking valves at all, no narrowing of arteries, no abnormal rhythms. We do not have to go back again until January, he just has to keep focusing on growing and working on his lungs. This appointment was easy, everyone was right on time and we were home in a blink.

Trevor was lucky enough to stay home with Daddy today. Bill had the day off of work for Columbus Day! Trevor was good and took a nice nap for the first part and let Bill get some things done. I left lunch prepared and let Bill know to make sure to put his food down a bit at a time and space it out so that Trevor doesn’t put it in his mouth by the fistful.

The boys had fun with the literal interpretation of Mommy’s instructions.

Of course he goes for the chicken first, I don’t blame him!

Chicken and peas make Trevor happy

When Brendan was back home and still had a nurse for the rest of the day, Bill and I took the opportunity to go out for a lunch. Trevor was a super good boy at the diner!

Bribing with fries might have something to do with it!

Brendan’s nurse had a lot of documentation to write today about the doctor’s visit. Trevor thought he had a few things to add too!

We are so happy for days that go smoothly. We begin weaning medicines again today, I am hoping with all my might that it goes better now that he is stronger!

We send healing Brendan power to Aunt Erin to speed her recovery!
