Year 2 – Week 18 – Day 2

I tend to dislike Fridays. Usually it has been a long week, we are all tired, the coming weekend will be busy and I have the boys pretty much to my self all day while Bill works. The nurse leaves at 7am instead of 8am and so I have to get up earlier.

Today wasn’t bad. The boys were pretty happy all around and both loved playing. Then the speech therapist showed up and Brendan had a full blown conniption. He was NOT happy about therapy and just cried non-stop for at least 30 minutes. He must have worn himself out because he fell asleep right there in his high chair. The session was cut short.

The speech therapist was impressed with Trevor’s straw-drinking and talking. Trevor is 99% off of bottles now. He only gets one occasionally when I miss the Trevor-Mommy cuddle time involved with giving the bottle.

I cleaned up Brendan’s alphabet game and there were two tiles in his lap. I thought it was coincidental that he kept these two tiles!

Nobody had to teach Trevor how to use an easy chair

Trevor rediscovered the corn popper now that he is walking.

That’s one way to do it

Good play time this afternoon

Brendan is supposed to be working on lots of kneeling and hip strengthening. His new chair is perfect for that.

He has lots of fun

He likes to get comfy in it too

Brendan was super active and took tiny naps today but he is still going and going, playing in his crib with “The Fish” (bet some people get the song in their head now!)

I got to do a little shopping without babies this afternoon. They were pretty good to Bill while I was gone. There was no explosion, no bleeding, and no duct tape used!

Year 2 – Week 18 – Day 1

It is unusual for Bill to be in the office on a Thursday so I was totally thrown off and had no idea what day it was. Brendan’s night nurse stayed until noon again to help out. It makes a huge difference in the morning.

I had just enough fleece material left from the projects in the boys’ bedroom that I was able to cover the two new chairs and one of the ottomans with a quick slip cover. I made one late last night and one this morning because Trevor slept in until 8:30am!! It was crazy. He was up a couple of times during the night so he must have been tired!
I love this fleece but it totally does not work in the living room, and I actually really liked the plain chocolate brown on the chairs. I will look for a better material but in the meantime, at least the chairs are protected! Brendan’s chair has a chux pad under the cover so it is doubly protected!

I was trying to get a cute picture of Brendan in his chair but I was just in the way of his Yo Gabba Gabba!

They both still really like their chairs!

Brendan did lots of tummy time on the floor this afternoon. He finally was able to get his knee under himself all by himself. He is really motivated to get mobile!

Back to keeping the babies occupied by doing something totally new and different, Trevor got his tools and took apart the jungle!

Brendan just watched and chewed a wrench.

This is what the jungle saucer is meant to do when the babies outgrow it. It should be a play table that they can walk up to. Not only was it far too big like this, but it was incredibly unstable. Trevor was trying to climb on it to get over the fence, he was pulling it over, moving it around, crawling underneath it and messing up the legs.
The jungle was very cool and we definitely got our use out of it, but it is time to say goodbye! Right now, I moved it to Trevor’s room until we decide what to do with it.

Brendan says, “Enough work, bring on the afternoon movie!!” (We watched The Little Mermaid)

He loves Ursula the Sea Witch singing.

I put the chairs together to see if the boys would play in their little “boat”

They were both being very silly

Evidence of silliness in video. I love the way Brendan tries to get Trevor’s attention. He can push a little sound past his trach and he makes a little honk like a silly little goose.

Something else really huge happened today. That poor little priority mail package that I mailed on January 29th finally made it to Gramma’s doorstep! She had to send me a picture or I wasn’t going to believe it!

The funniest part was when she opened the box, Trevor had slipped in a present of his own that I didn’t know about (His little purple baby spoon from lunch that day!) He knew Gramma collected spoons and I guess he wanted her to have it. She had to hang it in one of her spoon cabinets just for him!

We are all just relieved that the package arrived safely!

Year 2 – Week 17 – Day 7

It is a late blog tonight because a certain little dude that sleeps in the living room just didn’t want to stay in bed. It must have been too much excitement for him today. His night nurse worked until noon so that I wouldn’t be alone for the morning routine. Both boys took decent naps and then the fun started!

First we got the mail and I kept them occupied by letting them sort the coupon flyers. They like to see and do new things all the time, and finding inexpensive ways to keep their interest is tough!

Sorting the coupons turned in to ripping coupons and soon we had a paper disaster all over the living room. But they had fun!

Then their packages arrived! We loved their cousin Kieran’s little roundy chair so much and when they were on sale, we ordered some!

Trevor LOVED having his own chair. He climbed in and out over and over and pushed the little ottoman all over the living room.

Brendan was uncertain for just a moment and then decided he loved it too!

He claimed the chair as his by licking it.

It is immediately obvious that the chairs need some kind of washable slip cover. The microfiber won’t hold up to much licking and drool!

This video has a few clips of the boys in their chairs and another cute segment of a conversation between them.

It rained pretty much all night and sprinkled here and there all day. We even had some thunder!
Some areas of the valley actually got some snow! The mountains all have a pretty dusting of snow on them too.
