Year 2 – Week 16 – Day 7

Brendan had a really rough morning today. We believe that he just gets irregular sleep and is so tired. But with the sun up and Trevor out and about, he just can’t sleep in. Once he gets past all the trouble in the morning, he takes a nap and then wakes up feeling more like himself again. He was smiley and playful all afternoon.

Trevor went to Target with me this morning. While I wasn’t looking, he slipped a little toy in to the shopping cart! He was going to buy it with his Valentine money. He was excited to bring it home to play with Brendan.

Brendan was very interested.

He really, really likes it!

Brendan ate almost 5 bites of sweet potato-corn blend today! Trevor ate leftover spaghetti.

While Brendan relaxed and got a bath, Trevor got to go outside and play. He loves to go outside.

He did not want to ride the scooter, just push it!

Brendan spent the afternoon with his new best friend.

Me: “Trevor, don’t stand on the couch!”

Trevor: “This isn’t standing, it is leaning!”

Does this look like the face of a baby that breaks rules?

“How about lunges, are they OK?”

Trevor ate spinach white pizza tonight and loved it. This kid loves his greens.

Trevor’s latest favorite thing in the evening is “Daddy Tunnel”. Of course, Brendan finds the whole thing hilarious too. He will be joining in soon!

Year 2 – Week 16 – Day 6

It was a hard day on everyone today. Bill had to work from home because so many people in his building are sick. Our day nurse and I had to take Brendan to the doctor for his monthly Synagis injection. We thought since it would be a quick appointment that we would leave Trevor with Bill.
While we were at the doctor, we remembered that Brendan still hadn’t had his vision screening because the last two times we were there, something prevented it. (Brendan sleeping and machine broken). They use this fancy handheld computer that does an analysis and measurement of the eyes. We waited for 45 minutes while the nurse tried to get it to measure Brendan. It kept saying she was too close or too far or his pupils were too small (too much light) or he would move or she would move. It just wasn’t working. We moved to a different darker room, we got his shots done, we tried again and again. I was just about to throw that device, I was watching the clock thinking that Trevor would be getting hungry. Brendan was so tired.
We finally did get a measurement (I took the device and held it myself, must be my steady camera hands!). It came back with a failure/out of range. His right eye is measuring a bit hyperopic/farsighted. All this means is that now we have to take him for a full eye exam with a specialist.

I almost forgot to mention that Brendan now weighs 25lbs 10oz!! He is less than a pound away from overtaking his cousin, Caleb now! He sees the GI doctor on Thursday so we will see what he wants to do with Brendan’s calorie intake.

We did finally get home just in time for oxygen refill delivery. The boys both took naps and got up just in time for occupational therapy. Brendan cried through the whole thing. He was just so tired! I don’t blame him, I was wiped out too!

He is still a drool factory, I was able to look in his mouth and he has a huge molar trying to break through on the bottom right and one that is just broken through on the top left. Poor baby!

The nurses do several routine assessments every shift including taking Brendan’s temperature. Trevor LOVES the digital thermometer and always makes it known that he wants it when he sees it in use.

He’s just going to take it!

Saggin’ pants, wrench in hand! He just needs a sink to work on!

Brendan gets to be the cute little pumpkin tonight!

He is going to drill those teeth out!

Trevor went to bed easily and Brendan stayed up until I was done with Trevor. Brendan fell asleep around 7:30 and then woke up again at 8 ready to play. He is tormenting Bill now by constantly trying to chew on his shirt collar and get it all stretched out and soaked in drool. He will accept no substitute!

Year 2 – Week 16 – Day 5

I am super tired and in the middle of several things at once so I won’t get too wordy tonight.

I’ll just post this super-cuteness video compilation of Trevor practicing his walking in shoes. It was rainy out today so he only got to walk on the patio and up and down the hall.

He really wanted to go outside!

Bill just put up a frame he made today to hold the oxygen tanks in the corner. Good thing too because walking Trevor was very interested in them!

Brendan is determined to catch up to Trevor!

He fell asleep around 5:30PM and just woke up around 8:30 ready to play. Bill is determined to wear him out so that he sleeps tonight! They are doing lots of standing practice. Brendan is pretty excited about it.

Flying too!
