Year 2 – Week 28 – Day 1

Just like I expected, today was rough. I was slightly better after being up frequently through the night. I still couldn’t eat anything and by the afternoon, I just had a splitting headache that just won’t go away, even still. Trevor had a drippy nose today and by the time I put him to bed tonight, he was sounding more congested and felt a little warm.
Keeping the boys under control was challenging and I tried to get in a nap when they napped but it was short.

It was recycle day so we had to see the truck go by outside. Trevor played with his little truck for a while, picking up the “garbage cans” and dumping them just like the big one, with sound effects.

Toys were scattered to all four corners of the room, but where were Brendan and Trevor?

In the toy box, of course

I took lots and lots of pictures during dinner tonight, Brendan’s OT would be proud of him. I made Trevor his favorite peas and then put some frozen peas on Brendan’s tray. Trevor wanted to eat the frozen ones!

Brendan liked the cold, and even put them in his mouth and took them out without gagging. (he didn’t eat them)

I gave him a cold apple from the fridge and he liked that too

CHOMP! (I was hoping his little teeth would break the skin, but they never did)

Trevor HAD to have an apple too, he loves them. He takes real bites.

Since Brendan was on a roll, I gave him some graham crackers.

He actually tasted them all by himself

Didn’t like it!!

I showed him how to use his apple to smoosh the crackers in to crumbs and powder. He did a good job playing with the mess.

He did taste the crumbs again and didn’t seem to mind them this time.

“Here, Trevor, have my cracker”

Trevor had fun crushing and eating crackers too.

I hope for a better day tomorrow.

Year 2 – Week 27 – Day 7

The boys had a pretty good day, but I have been miserable, getting worse in to the evening. I still had a low grade fever on and off throughout the day, intestinal distress, and a bit of dizziness/weakness. Bill and Nurse Jen allowed me to get a few hours of rest this afternoon. I am drinking tons of fluids and hoping that it will be better tomorrow. I am not sure how I will get through if I don’t feel better in the morning.

I tried to keep Trevor low key today. HA! Brendan was working with his nurse on PT skills, he was learning how to climb on to the couch using his easy chair as a step. He can pretty much do it by himself now.

Sometimes they share nicely.

Trevor says, “What do you mean, ‘Be nice to Mommy’? I am always an angel!”

At the end of a rough night, the cuteness sometimes triumphs

And then the hilarity reminds us why we do this every day
