Year 2 – Week 31 – Day 6

I have gotten so used to doing monstrous posts that I don’t know what to do with this one! I only took a couple of fast photos, we were extra super busy today.
The good news is that we now have two new nurses that are set to take over so we won’t lose out on our hours. We will have two nights every week that are not covered and that will be a challenge, but we will have four days of help now and that will be a huge relief to me. Especially since the therapists are cut and changed, the extra day nursing can help me keep working on Brendan’s goals.

We got a delivery today with some flowers and balloons from Aunt Letty and Uncle Rich. I am sure you meant to send the balloons to Trevor, at least he assumed so!

He is on the run

We played outside this morning, and Brendan got worn out! He almost fell asleep in the swing. When we came in, he actually took an early morning nap. He took another this afternoon and slept until 4pm! So much for bedtime tonight!! I had to take Trevor out for a drive so that Brendan could rest.

Brendan gets three hours a day off of his feeding pump now, so he can do more exploring. He got all wound up under the kitchen table tonight, but he had fun.

We are getting ready to put Trevor to bed and then we have big plans tonight! Our night nurse is coming in super early for Brendan and our friend Christine is coming to be available if Trevor wakes up. Bill and I have 8PM dinner reservations! This will be the first real date night we have had in two years!

Last year on my birthday, Gramma was here scouring and scrubbing every inch of the house with us so that we could bring Brendan home. Everything is so different now!

Year 2 – Week 31 – Day 5

Happy Memorial Day! I don’t have anything profound to say about the holiday, try as I might. I am grateful for and proud of all of my family members and friends that have served in the armed forces and I am lucky that most of them are still with us. We honor and remember those that are not.

It was a pretty typical day for us. It started with a trip to Sam’s Club for “just a few things”

It really wasn’t that many items, just really big ones. Boxes of diapers, wipes, TP, paper towels, etc. All the bulky things. And some new shelving for the new room! And Trevor picked out a watermelon!

He picked this out for my birthday treat since I am not going to bake a cake for myself!

He thinks Gramma would approve, but wants to do a taste test right in the store anyway!

Lunch time! Watermelon time!

Brendan came cruisin’ over to see what was going on

“Oh no, food”

This picture cracks me up. Brendan climbed up there by himself, Trevor is giving him quite a look!

I think he was going to try to close the lid on Trevor!

He changed his mind and decided to climb in!

He changed his mind again and decided to go for the toy that Trevor has

Dinner time – Trevor really liked couscous

After dinner is super fun play time. I don’t know why they can’t be this nice and playful all day!

After dinner/pre bath spazz time.

Sillies!!

Year 2 – Week 31 – Day 4

Sunday morning is always a grocery trip as soon as Trevor is done with breakfast. Then we had to hurry home and meet a possibile new nurse. Brendan seemed to like her, so she will start very soon and cover the Tuesday and Wednesday day slot. We meet another nurse Tuesday that may work days on Thursday and Friday.
After that meeting, we had some outdoor play time. Trevor was just Mr. Crazy Tripping Bonking Guy today. He usually stumbles and pops right back up, but this time he tripped and face planted right in to the side of his fort.

At lunch time, there were blueberries on his tray..

..and raspberries on his forehead

Brendan did not think a blueberry on his tray was a good idea. He did eat several bites of squash though

We had a huge plan today, but it all depended on how things went all day and if the boys took good naps, which they did. We made the decision to take them to their first pool party/cookout. It was a nice group of friends and a hot day. I tried to take Trevor to swim but the pool was too cold and he didn’t like it.

Brendan initially resisted and cried, but he finally calmed down and let Christine hold him

Both boys really loved these sport top water bottles. Brendan drank some water from it.

Trevor found a cool shady place to play in the grass and dirt

Brendan liked Tammy too and started being more sociable. You can see the boys were not the youngest guests at the party.

Trevor kept us busy as he explored the whole place

Trevor loved this dog’s floppy ears. He kept telling it “wooo woo wooo”

He didn’t just play under the trampoline, he also ran around on it

The boys were all smiles on the way home. I wish we could have stayed longer. It was a great first big party outing!

Thanks Eric, Michelle, and Taylor for hosting an awesome pool party! Thanks Christine and Tammy for holding, cuddling, spoiling and entertaining Brendan!
