Year 3 – Week 16 – Day 1

There are a TON of pictures today because I just couldn’t decide which ones to use, they were all too cute! We were very excited to take Brendan on an outing to the zoo today! It was Nurse Vanessa and me and the boys, unfortunately Bill had to work.

When I asked Trevor, “Do you want to go to the zoo?”, his answer was, “Giant noodle, Trevor loves it.”
He was happy to show Brendan the enormous yellow curl that is the noodle.

We were also excited to see how Brendan would like feeding a giraffe. He was impressed!

The boys both liked that the baboons were right up on the glass. One baboon even gave Brendan a high five. Brendan was happy that there was glass in between.

316b04

They both like their zoo cups. Trevor asks for “Zoo coke refill?” because they get free drinks in these cups.
316b05

316bt11

Brendan didn’t want to touch the horse, but he liked it.
316b06

Trevor wanted to hug it
316t03

316b07

They both loved the chickens
316b08

316t04

We went to the goat petting area. Brendan is signing “all done”.
316bt12

He finally warmed up to the idea and would walk all around, as long as you didn’t try to make him go near a goat.
316b09

316b10

Trevor wanted to help this goat eat sticks
316t05

316t06

316t07

They loved driving the tractor

There are so many more things for Brendan to see, but we ran out of time. We will have to go back soon! Trevor really wanted a ride on the merry-go-round, but we had to go.
Overall, Brendan had an amazing morning!

We had to do some laundry because both boys reeked like goats! They were “helping”
316bt16

316bt17

Brendan figures that if he can’t get in, he will just play like that
316bt18

Oh look, they both fit!
316bt19

Trevor is turning off the light on Brendan

Trouble.
316t08

Other than all that excitement, we also had a pretty bad fall-out-of-bed at 3:30am. Trevor was standing at the foot of the bed and must have toppled over the footboard. I only have this shot from the motion alert that happened right before the big bang and the loud crying. He was shaken but fine. No sign of any damage today.
316t09

Then there was the part where I had to pull a kernel of frozen corn out of Trevor’s nose with a pair of tweezers…

What a Friday!

Year 3 – Week 15 – Day 7

We missed the garbage truck today. Trevor had to bring in the can.
315t29

315t30

He walked his bike all the way to the corner and back. He is getting good at steering it too and doesn’t fall over much.
315t31

315t32

He even tried to offroad it
315t33

Brendan had his cardiology appointment today. He wasn’t exactly thrilled.

It pains me to have to hold a screaming Brendan down for 30+ minutes so that they can do an echocardiogram. He hates it! But the good news is that his heart is still looking great. The doctor says strong squeeze, no leaky valves, no fluid around heart or lungs. All good news!

Brendan won the war over the EKG. They started putting stickers and clips on and his mad leg kicking, squirming, fighting and crying was too much. They just couldn’t get more than 2 leads on at a time. Trying to get more made the others fall off. They ended up doing a very basic check to see his rhythms and the doctor was happy with that.

Nothing will change with his plan heartwise, he just has to keep getting stronger and bigger for his next surgery at 4yrs old or so. The doctor said he looked amazing.

Now, we just have to worry about what is wrong this week with Brendan throwing up again. All week, he has had problems tolerating his food and he has had a lot of big mucous vomits. He had two big throw ups just today, one while he was sleeping! It is very frustrating, I wish I knew how to help him. I don’t even know what is happening yet. We will just have to wait and see.

Year 3 – Week 15 – Day 6

A year ago Christmas, Shannon and Jon ordered the boys two winter outfits in a size “18 months”, which is what they were wearing at the time. Trevor just now is fitting in to the hugest 18 month cloths I have ever seen! I had to take a trach-tie velcro strap and make a belt for him because the pants are still way too big around the waist!
I am glad they fit before it got too warm!
315t26

It was a great outfit for running outside today
315t27

315t28

Perfect for a drive too

Brendan was up quite a bit in the night last night, for no apparent reason. And then he skipped his nap today too! He was a super tired baby tonight. He did not want pictures. 🙂

315b16

Closing my eyes.. you can’t see me
315b17

315b18

So tired!
315b19

Bath time must have been revitalizing, because the post-bath crazy time was just as wild as usual.

Brendan went to bed easy, before 9PM!
Tomorrow is the big day of cardiology checkup with echo, EKG, etc. He better get good rest tonight!
