Year 3 – Week 39 – Day 2

I am going to break the Wi-Fi here at this RV park. It has been a frail connection, and slow! I have too many pictures to upload tonight and it keeps disconnecting. Figures!

We went to the train station to see the Grand Canyon Railway train take off for the morning. The boys are too young to take the trip on the train this time.

Brendan was still having a little tantrum because we walked past the playground to get to the train. He REALLY liked the playground and wanted to go again.339b02

He was calmed by a single-use French Vanilla coffee creamer339b03

Then the train horn blasted and startled us all!339b05

We did some touristy stuff around the train station339t08

And then finally, Brendan got his wish to go back to the playground!339b07

After all the walking and fresh air and climbing and playing, Brendan took a nap. Trevor did NOT!!! I guess I just have to get used to the idea that his naps are a thing of the past. Once Brendan woke up, we went to visit a Deer Farm. We bought a cup of Deer Chow and that made us very popular.339bt03

Brendan liked the miniature horses339b11

I told Trevor to “Hold out your hand to let the horse sniff you”. He took me literally and held his hand with the other hand and extended it to the horse.339t11

Brendan gave the reindeer a big kiss. He has come a long way from not wanting to touch the animals!339b12

After dinner, we all walked back to the playground AGAIN! Brendan went down the giant tornado slide with Daddy and loved it. He was very proud to go up and down stairs by himself too. 339b14

I hope I didn’t miss any pictures, although I think there are plenty. We are headed back home in the morning. Big hugs and love to Great-Grandma who got to read the blog today. We hope the pain is minimal and progress continues!

Year 3 – Week 39 – Day 1

We are happy to report that Great-Grandma Bobbie has come through a very long but successful surgery and has a nice big plate and two screws on her leg bone now. She will not be allowed to bear weight for 2 whole months while she does rehab. The break was really bad.

We had big plans for this weekend. We are doing another 2-night camper adventure up in northern AZ. It means the difference between 110 and 84 degrees for a high, 90 vs 55 for the overnight low.

Bill was able to work a half day today so we could get on the road, we planned to be driving by 1PM. We decided to keep the boys up from napping and hope that they would nap in the car. Due to the nursing situation, my own tiredness, we were not as prepared as we hoped to be, so we didn’t get rolling until about 2:15PM.

Sleeping!! The little horseshoe pillows I made them even did the job well to keep them from folding in half while sleeping in a car seat.
We thought we had won the day!

Oh were we wrong. After driving for 3hrs, getting the trailer all set up, and starting to organize and feed the boys, we realized something was missing. Bill and I had used a big white laundry basket to put all of our stuff in, and it was still sitting happily on the bed at home. That is all of our clothes, undergarments, toiletries and medications. UGH. The boys’ stuff was all accounted for.

After discussing the possibility of Bill doing a round trip to get it, we determined that we had enough to get by if I could hit Walmart…. 34 miles away!! Trevor and I hit the road. We were lucky after all and within a mile of the trailer park, we found a Dollar general. I got shorts, tshirts, socks, underwear, a hairbrush, toothbrush, and deodorant for both of us. WHEW, disaster averted. What a mess!
339bt01

Trevor immediately took to playing in the dirt, Brendan has a big problem with wanting to take off running to other trailers, he has to learn how to behave around parking lots.

Trevor helped Daddy to hook up the water lines.

Year 3 – Week 38 – Day 7

Our hearts are with Great-Grandma Bobbie tonight. She is in this hospital with a broken femur and could be headed to surgery in the morning – the orthopedic doctor will decide tomorrow. We will be waiting and worrying until we hear more.

We had a boring day by comparison, I let Trevor run all over IKEA to try to wear him out and he still didn’t nap. He was glued to this kitchen playset for a long time.

We send lots of love and well wishes to Gramma and Great-Grandma and hope for the best for tomorrow. Quick healing!
