Week 40 – Day 5

We’ve all done pretty well today. We appreciate our friend Christine hanging out all afternoon while Bill went to visit Grandpa Jack. We need to have her over more often because both of the boys were ultimate little angels and had a blast. We had dinner with her whole family and it was nice to have some adult social time.

Brendan was kicking so hard, I thought he was going to launch right out of his bouncy chair!

This gets filed as one of my new favorite pictures, it makes me laugh!

Sound the alarm, this means trouble!!

Brendan is going to eat an orange dream tot. mmm

Trevor was playing with cups today. He is doing it wrong!

Even Brendan knows he is doing it wrong! (the green one was supposed to be for Brendan to play)

There you go!

I wish that I had fit in a nap today. Tonight is no-nurse night, so I am counting on some Mountain Dew and late Olympics coverage. Please sleep in tomorrow, Trevor!

Week 40 – Day 4 – Trevor’s catchup

Putting the drug wean on hold this week has left us with a pretty happy Brendan. It has been a nice break for us not having to manage his withdrawal.

It was nice playing with the boys together. Someone covered Brendan in tater tots.

Find the bucket, find the culprit

We learned yesterday that Brendan had a pulmonology appointment scheduled this afternoon. The hospital must have scheduled it when we discharged, I don’t remember setting it up. We were glad to go, but it left us in a pinch. Bill got out of work just in time to go, but that meant putting the whole family in the car. We had to take the truck so I could sit between the two car seats and then there was no room for equipment and the stroller had to go in the back. It was not comfortable but at least we know we fit.

Getting Brendan loaded to travel takes a lot of effort. Filling the portable liquid oxygen container is really really loud, so Bill gave Trevor ear protection.

In the truck, Brendan on my left

Trevor on my right

We are tasking the whale with a serious load of stuff. Trevor barely fit with all of the gear!

At the house, Brendan is relieved to be home and totally worn out!

On the way home, I was taking some extreme Trevor closeups and I noticed something.

When we got home, we had to get out a metal spoon and see if we could click click click

It clicked! The sharpest little point of a tiny tooth is pushing its way through on the bottom right! Trevor is getting his first tooth!!!!

Week 40 – Day 3

We were thrilled to get report from the night nurse this morning that Brendan had a very restful night. She was afraid to say that he was doing well for fear of jinxing him! He had a surprisingly good day today too, just a few troublesome episodes.

He has started scritching his little nails on things to feel textures. He especially likes Daddy’s whiskers.

He spent time on the floor in outer space too

“Don’t mess with me, little planet dude, I will shake you up!”

He must have been in space too long, he passed out cold! He slept here for quite a while, we weren’t about to disturb a nice nap.

Brendan had an exceptional physical therapy appointment. He was all smiles and was showing off all of his tricks. The therapist was really complimentary to us as well, he says he was very pleased with all the things we were doing and with Brendan’s progress. We practiced some more rolling and footplay today.

Brendan was a little late for lunch, Trevor was waiting.

Brendan won’t eat puffs, but his therapist says he is supposed to play with food.

“Are you going to eat those, bro?”

Caught puff-nabbing!!

Trevor still hasn’t figured out forward motion, but now he is trying to figure how to stand. He is pulling on furniture to get up, it is just a matter of time.

Mr. No Nap strikes again. I was just about to put him in his crib when the speech therapist showed up and the dogs barked and Trevor had to come be part of the commotion.

Speech therapy went very well today too. She backed off on her approach and introduced a new toy that Brendan likes to chew on. She left it with him this week to let him get used to it.

I told Trevor to make his best “I miss Gramma” face.

He was so overtired, he had his post-dinner bottle and was in bed by 6:45pm. We expect to hear from him again soon. Brendan had a long bath and is asleep now too.
