Week 40 – Day 2: 9 months old!

Unbelievable, these two baby boys are nine months old today. We had no way to even imagine that at 9 months, we would be where we are today. We are climbing a steep mountain of challenge with a long way still to go. I am realizing as I am typing that there are at least two things that I forgot I still have to get done today, it has been busy!

The boys did pretty well this morning. They did not make a lot of noise during Daddy’s work calls. Brendan did a lot of sleeping which allowed me to spend more time with Trevor. Trevor is getting more and more independent and really wants down to play and explore, but he needs to be able to see you in the room or he calls out. He also seems to have an insatiable appetite and was demanding dinner an hour early. He must be about to grow again!

It is an exhausting life, being locked up in this baby jail

You would think they were twins or something

“So Brendan, when they tell you it is the last bite, hold it right here in your cheek until you get all cleaned up and ready to get out of the chair. Then drool it out on your clean shirt!”

Brendan had a good time at home with Daddy after work today and Trevor and I went to my office to clean out my old desk and bring everything home. It is going to take a few trips! Funny how much crap you can accumulate in 11 years. Trevor was a celebrity, he got a ton of attention and ate it all up!

Brendan had to play with Mortimer until Trevor got home!

Week 40 – Day 1

It was an OK day today, Brendan had a lousy morning, an OK afternoon, and a really nice evening. Trevor was exceptionally good for me all day, although I did shower him with lots of attention. He absolutely cracks me up every day.

He is a very good eater, we haven’t found anything he doesn’t like yet. He seems very interested in self feeding too, and now he really likes to have his puffs with each meal. At least a couple of them actually make it in to his mouth each time.

Trevor presents the Captain Calamari Puppet Show for your entertainment:

Brendan needed all fresh tape on his face today. I hate to do it because taking off the old tape leaves his poor cheek red like a fire engine. His skin is so sensitive to it.

He was so happy to kick in the bath water that he was launching water 10ft across the living room. With a look of sheer concentration on his face, he would slam both heels down in perfect timing and launch a wave of water out of the tub. So we had to put a poncho on the tub!

As long as he could still see his feet, he was still loving the splashes.

He won’t go to sleep tonight, so he is sitting in his bucket swing right now trying to grab the purple rhino down. Each day, he gets more and more aware of his surroundings and his ability to manipulate things.

Tomorrow is our first no-nurse, no-gramma day with the boys. I am hoping we all get some good rest tonight, it is going to be a challenge!

Week 39 – Day 7

Brendan’s night was horrible. We’ve just pushed his weaning too hard and he was not able to cope with the symptoms. After talking with the doctor this morning, we’ve had to take a few steps backwards in his drug schedule to stabilize him and then we will have to move forward at a more conservative pace.
After having his adjusted dose, he spent most the day kind of spaced out and tired but he refused to sleep.

He took a 10 minute nap holding on to the side of his crib like he thought he was going to fall out.

He woke up feeling a little better. The smiles took work, he only gave out a few. Brendan had to put on a shirt today so he could have a picture with Gramma and Trevor.

This is Trevor’s “I have to share Gramma’s lap with Brendan?!” face

“Brendan is putting his face in my hand space”

Having a brother isn’t so bad

Trevor wants the camera

Gramma had to give the boys five and a half weeks worth of hugs and kisses today. She got on a plane and went home, but will be back at the end of August for Brendan’s surgery admission. We all will miss her!

After a good solid nap tonight, Brendan woke up in a very happy mood and was ready for kicking in his bouncy seat. The boys played together while video chatting with The Bearded One and Aunt Schnah.

We are hoping for a much better night tonight. We are also hoping that Trevor has a good morning routine, he is going to have the biggest adjustment to make with Gramma gone.
