Year 2 – Week 29 – Day 6

The blog is late tonight because a certain Li’l B just did not want to go to bed! And when he finally did go to sleep, the dogs had to go and bark randomly and wake him up again. I just got him put down at 10PM.
Trevor is such an amazing bedtime baby because we worked very hard to get him in to a pattern that works. He goes to bed between 7-7:15, awake or asleep and doesn’t cry about it. He listens to his aquarium soother or his seahorse music and is asleep within 20 minutes. But it took a lot of time letting him be in his crib alone, even crying, to get him to that point. You can’t leave Brendan in his crib alone and expect to not have to tend to him within minutes. He either disconnects his vent, opens the port on his feed line so formula leaks everywhere, picks his pulse-ox probe so that the alarm goes off, he cries so much that he needs suctioning, or he just gets tangled up in wires and needs rescuing. Or lately, he stands in the crib and bangs the handles on the oxygen tanks. So we have a baby that is fiercely spoiled and gets rocked and cuddled when he is restless.

It was mega-busy today. Brendan had a great PT session this morning and was very active and cooperative. He practiced his “getting down” skills and also cruising and trying to pull up on flat walls. Then we had our appointment with the state. The good news is that our nursing hours do not get cut this time, they will be reviewed again in 90 days. Then we had to write Brendan’s new annual IFSP and set all his new goals for services, at the same time I made lunch for Trevor and got him down for a nap.

When Trevor woke up, he was on a mission to go out and get the mail!

“What do you mean, I missed the garbage truck!!?”

“Hi, Mommy!”

“Hi, Mommy!” (It is like he is checking to be sure I am still watching him run circles around the driveway!)

Mission successful

This afternoon, Brendan had his OT. He got to play with A very bright wavy parachute. He handled it really well!

It was like a circus tent

He also got to play in the tunnel with Trevor

Brendan has a new trick to show off today. By the end of the evening, he had mastered it, of course. There is also some other random cuteness in this video.

Fortunately, we have nothing on our schedule tomorrow. It will most likely be a Trevor outing morning and then taking it easy in the afternoon!

Year 2 – Week 29 – Day 5

I only have a couple of pictures today because I wore the camera out yesterday and forgot to charge the battery!
Brendan had a great day today. He stayed on 3L all day and even wore his PMV for a couple of hours. It is so good to hear him talking again!

He is showing off some sweet numbers!

He is also holding evidence that Trevor has been raiding drawers in the bathroom

He decided that Trevor’s cheerio snack should be on the floor

And he is picking them up and pushing them through the holes in the workbench

Trevor plays with Brendan’s food too, I guess it is only fair!

Trevor made a trip to Home Depot today to get some more supplies for the new room. It is coming along, if only there was just more time in the day to work on it! Bill is painting inside tonight. Tomorrow is a busy Tuesday!
PT, garbage truck, visit from state reps to review nursing hours, OT, plus normal craziness.

I will just wrap this post up with a little video cuteness!

Year 2 – Week 29 – Day 4 – Happy Mother’s Day!

There are TONS of pictures today.

First I want to wish my mom the happiest Mother’s Day. I am also excited to say that this is the first year that all of my sisters and I are celebrating the joy of motherhood. I love my nieces and nephews so much! Happy Mother’s Day to my Grandma, my sisters-in-law and all my friends and extended family. I hope it was a great day for everyone!
Even though I had to do things like clean the bathroom and change a trach today, I am still so appreciative of today. Last Mother’s Day, we spent the majority of the day at the hospital. We have come so far!

The boys were VERY cranky this morning and I thought they were going to just be mean to me all day with their whining and crabbiness. But after they got up from their naps, they were silly, happy, and ready to play! It was hot outside so we set up the baby pool for Trevor.

Trevor has now completely overcome his fear of the grass and will walk around in it just fine.

Brendan says, “I am staying dry in the shade!”

He had a great afternoon and we were able to turn his oxygen down from 4L to 3L!

“I am going to climb this rock wall!”

“Or maybe I will just go up the slide!”

I really enjoyed having all my boys playing outside today!

Daddy ATTACK!!

Trevor goes down the slide all by himself now, he doesn’t want help!

Brendan loves to be in the castle

And sliding!

…when Trevor is not in the way!

Inside, Brendan cruises along all the furniture. I am even getting him to reach out and transition to me.

I realized right before bed that it was Mother’s Day and the boys didn’t have any pictures with their mother! I just used the “Photo Booth” app on the computer to try to get some pictures but the boys were less than cooperative! Trevor wanted nothing to do with it, while Brendan found the whole thing hysterical. He loves seeing himself on the screen!

I hope Brendan continues to improve. When we put him on his vent tonight, he was making me giggle with all of the singing that he was doing. Instead of letting the vent fill his lungs, he was blowing the pressure out of his mouth and making the funniest sounds. He is finally in bed! Good night!
