Year 2 – Week 29 – Day 3

Aside from things not being quite right with Brendan, it was a nice Saturday. Bill was home all day and was available to help wrangle the crazies. I did some cleanup projects and some creative stuff too, and chased the crazies all over the house.

Brendan was wanting to explore but he reached maximum extension on his mist collar.

We put Brendan on an HME with a nice long oxygen line and just let him go go go. The pair of brothers went on quite an adventure together. They started in the hallway and did some maintenance on the motion activated lights.

They tried to make an escape out the dog door until the dog came to play peek-a-boo

They messed with the vacuum

They took apart the cabinet full of tater tots

“C’mon, Trevor, what is next?”

“Try and do this, Brendan”

Brendan did this all by himself, and every day he is getting more bold about trying

They finally took a break together

Then it was back to the fun. They both LOVED the suitcase full of frogs.

Trevor and I ran out to Sams Club to buy dog food and while we were there, I got suckered in to buying him this cute book with firetrucks and lots of little dogs. He loved it so I made the mistake of letting him hold it in his car seat on the way home.
By the time we got to the house, he had chewed through the corner of the book and had little bits of paper spitwads everywhere. He is not a baby, he is a little goat!

He was also very naughty in his bath tub tonight. He would NOT sit down and he had a lot to say.

We tried to turn Brendan’s oxygen down again today but it was a no-go. He is still on 4L. It seems like he has been sick for so long, but it has only been a week ago last night that he showed his first symptoms. Hopefully this silly mood and energy will soon be followed by better numbers.

A special happy anniversary goes out to Great Aunt Letty and Great Uncle Rich today. Congratulations and happy 45th!!

Year 2 – Week 29 – Day 2

The good news today is that the chest xray this morning did not show any signs of pneumonia. The bad news is we still have no idea why Brendan needs so much oxygen. There are no other clues that I can see. I hope he continues to improve. We got home from the imaging place in time for speech therapy. She went easy on him today and they played fun car games and bubbles.

Trevor and I ran a few errands. Then he just had to go outside and try out his new sandals. The old ones were getting too small, and he can not go check the mail and watch for garbage trucks without shoes on the super hot pavement! It was 100 degrees out today.

Running in sandals, check.

Trevor has become fascinated with his own shadow. He also likes the shadow of the mailbox and goes to stand on it. He also likes to run all around the driveway, occasionally stopping to wave at me and smile. He can be so cute!

Brendan was super cute today too, just doing his own thing.

My friend Virginia and her daughter Tammy came over tonight and brought dinner and dessert. Thank you both so much! After dinner, Trevor was all about having company. He was a real flirt.

Brendan must have thought they were just more therapists, he was unsure of company and would cry if he got too nervous. (and stop instantly if I picked him up!)
Trevor was like a little puppy, coming around to be pet.

I am sorry I didn’t get a better picture of the boys with their visitors. We enjoyed the company and now we are getting ready for another busy weekend.

Year 2 – Week 29 – Day 1

Today felt more like a “normal” day for our household, except Brendan’s numbers are still poor. We turned his oxygen down a little yesterday and ended up having to turn it back up. He is maintaining mediocre oxygen saturations on still double the oxygen. We get a chest xray tomorrow, but I am not expecting that to give us any answers. It is very frustrating.
Brendan himself is active and happy. His nose runs a little but he had no throwing up all day.

We had typical antics.

Brendan is getting more confident with cruising the furniture. He is transitioning across gaps now. He is also climbing more, but he makes bad choices and needs help a lot.

He was a super crab tonight. He had managed to steal Bill’s glasses but Bill took them away.

Brendan’s tantrums can be very dramatic

Trevor has to get in on it too

This is not the angry glare face I am trying to capture, but it is closer.

Haha! Just acting!

Our calendar keeps filling up with appointments for this month. It is going to be busy busy busy.
