Year 3 – Week 9 – Day 6 – Merry Christmas!

We have come a long way since last Christmas. Looking back on the blog is one of the best ways to help me realize that.
With Bill being terribly ill today with the stomach bug, it was just me with the boys all day. I still can’t eat much. I probably am a little dehydrated and I have a pounding headache.
Brendan did better, Trevor is now past it.
The day was long and challenging, but we have been through worse and survived.
I stare at the clock and wait for bedtime, hoping that a good night of rest can help pull us out of this pit of painful nausea and aching.

I can’t believe that 2013 is nearly gone. It doesn’t feel like Christmas should be over yet. This month has been wild and our house is a giant mess. The next week or so will be about trying to get back to our routine and getting things in order again. Tomorrow’s forecast – mountains of laundry!

We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.

Year 3 – Week 9 – Day 5

Dear Santa,

I am not sure why I ended up on the naughty list this year, but coal in the stocking would have sufficed. Projectile vomiting, fiery diarrhea, fever aches, chills, and lack of sleep… maybe a little cruel?

Trevor’s tummy issues seem to be mending, but I spent the night wide awake and miserable and throwing up and feverish. Brendan went to bed like normal but at 10:30pm, he woke up vomiting too. He had a VERY rough night, he couldn’t keep any of his fluids down and his nurse had to hold him pretty much all night to get a little bit of sleep. Bill was up until after 1am doing laundry so that we had clean sheets, rags, and towels.

I could not keep my eyes open all morning. Moms don’t get to call in sick, so I had to fight to stay awake to take care of Trevor. Brendan had a nurse and Bill had to work.

Brendan had a better day, getting only pedialyte pushed by his pump. I have had nothing but water all day, even the smell of Trevor’s chicken nuggets cooking made me sick again.

Bill is feeling congested with post-nasal drip tonight, so I really am fearful that he finally caught what Trevor and I had and now Brendan will have to fight it off again.

We are grateful that Brendan’s night nurse is working tonight and tomorrow. It means a lot to us. His day nurse will be off tomorrow for the holiday.

I did not even look at the camera today, so here are two snaps of our poor little sweethearts finally asleep and getting good rest. Now it is my turn!

Merry Christmas Eve to all of our blog readers. Stay healthy!

Year 3 – Week 9 – Day 4

Once again, this morning I thought we were all feeling better. Trevor’s problem just moved to the other end and he hasn’t had much appetite. I am going to bed tonight feeling terribly nauseated and getting cold sweats and chills. It was a tough day for a lot of reasons. The boys were crabby, we had a new nurse try out today, and I was not feeling great so I didn’t have the energy to deal with it all.

Virginia stopped by to bring some cute gifts and treats.

Bailey brought the dogs some new toys. Eins has been loving this giraffe, but Trevor ran up and told him “no! no! that GeeMo’s!”. It is hilarious because it resembled a stuffed leopard that Gizmo had that Trevor played with all week at Gramma’s house.

Tonight Bill tried to teach Brendan how to play Wii

Trevor likes to “help cook!!” I gave him simple tasks like instant rice and canned asparagus.

Virginia brought pumpkin cake and cool whip. Trevor did not like the cool whip (I think his tummy is still off) but he played with it.

Even looking at these pictures currently makes my stomach churn and roll

Maybe this will help curtail the cool whip cravings for others.

Brendan has been trying lots of foods as long as he can lick them off the walls of a little cup. Go figure. Today he tried strawberry-banana yogurt and cool whip.

I sure hope this stomach thing clears up overnight. I hate that queasy, “I don’t want to move too fast” feeling.
